Not a yoga class!

Join physical therapist, Dr. Ariele Foster, for this online, 30 minute strength training class that uses dumbbells (or resistance bands),

to introduce the series "Progressive Strength Training for Chaturanga & Pushups".

Why strength train for Chaturanga?

... Because "practice and coming" might take decades (or never happen for some of us).

One of the trickiest things about a bodyweight movement practice is building strength progressively.

Chaturanga or push ups don't just happen from trying. Improve your approach. Avoid injury. Get focused.

This 30 minute online strength training class is designed to introduce you to our upcoming series "Progressive Strength Training for Chaturanga & Pushups".

Expect a 5 minute intro, followed by about 25-30 minutes of guided work out.

After class, stay for the Q+A about the upcoming series.

PLEASE NOTE, this is not a yoga class. This is a resistance training class designed to compliment a yoga asana practice.

Class will target the upper body and abdominal muscles involved in push ups or the yoga push up, chaturanga dandasana.

What you'll need for class:

💪🏻 A range of dumbbells of appropriate weight for your upper body (for example, 5-25 pounds or 2.5-12 kg) or an adjustable dumbbell set,

💪🏻 and/or dense resistance bands (we recommend both bands and dumbbells for best results)

💪🏻 Optional: Bolster or weight bench or full length foam roller

I've never worked out with dumbbells / done strength training. Is this for me?

100% yes! And please do not be intimidated. The hardest parts are 1) acquiring the equipment, 2) staying consistent. Just start small, and do less than you think you "could". There's no point in working out hard one day if the next day you can barely move :)

I'm very experienced in strength training. Will this be too easy for me?

No. You will be most limited by the size of the dumbbells you have access to. If you have recently taken a break from strength training, please be easy on yourself. If you enjoy someone else guiding you, this is for you.

I won't be able to join the series. Is this class still for me?

Of course! Please do not expect to get magically strong within one session, but everyone is welcome to join this class.

Will there be a recording?

Yes! But the recording will be available for approximately 48 hours, then live in the files of the upcoming strength series.
